A true vintage survivor! The donor truck was purchased new in 1973 to carry a new slide-in pickup camper. The truck arrived before the custom camper was completed so the tailgate saw service for two weeks while the finishing touches were done on the camper. At that time, the gate was removed and never saw service on the truck again! While stored in a garage, out of the weather for forty years, from time to time it was moved from one side to the other, picking up the very small paint chips on the edges. A few years in, a falling rake caused the slight dents in the stainless beauty band and pull handle (see photos for details). This one of a kind gate is an true survivor, no body work EVER! NO RAIN, NO SNOW, NO ROAD SALT! The only defects are those that came with the moving in the garaged storage. Very little work is needed to prepare this gate for painting. Shipping by freight ONLY. I actually bought this truck three years back to use the engine for a boat I was building. At that time, I also saw this gate on a rack in the garage. The Pics show it all! Very nice for the 40 years that it has been sitting in storage. If I was to restore the truck, this would be the first gate I would want. Easy restore.....Well worth the time to look closer at the pics. Don't pass it up, there are very few available in this shape to start with.
