We used this to jack up a sagging work bench. Not exactly what it was designed for, but it worked as it's supposed to. The only reason I knocked it a star is because the top and bottom flanges aren't attached. The top rotates on a pivot (which is normal; makes it very hard to adjust otherwise), but the plate it just laying on top. The same goes for the bottom. One light kick on the post knocks everything over and parts fly everywhere (keep in mind it's not under the large loads that it would be normally though). It's red in color and comes with two pins for the "rough" adjustment. It comes with a rod for turning the screw ("fine" adjustment), which was nice. I didn't notice any instructions, but I wasn't looking. It's pretty straight forward to use. Pull the inside cylinder up until the holes line up at a height just below what you need, put the two pins in, put the bar in the screw and turn the screw until it's tight.
