I bought this to use with my Polaris winch that is used to operate the plow. I had recently up graded to winch rope to replace the cable. (which I highly recommend to anyone) I cut the rope guard in half and threaded ten feet of rope through it. This protects the rope drom damage caused by the faieleads from freaquent use. To keep it from bunching up, I used a Viper winch stopper and used a cable clamp to secure the rope guard. I have plowed a few storms now and have had no problems.
