Solid rubber, it is as described. Be aware that it is on the smallish side, and likely isn't the right chock for tires over 27" or 28" tall. Great for my wife's car and our RV, but kind of scary looking against the Jeep even on the stock 29.5" tires. If you need bigger chocks (like for pickups, SUV's, full size vans etc), don't get these, but for most cars these are good. One let down is the lack of any handle or pull. I made my own with some heavy rope and a few large washers and they work great.
