XPUSA X5046 Professional Series 11 - 15 FT 150LBS Foot Drywall & Panel Lift Hoist Review
I am puting a ceiling in my garage 10" ceiling, I am doing it by myself and can only dedicate 1-2 days a week to the project. My garage is quite cluttered with work benches, electric equipment, tools etc., which makes it more time consuming to clear a pathway to move each panel and hang it. I figured I could do 4-6 panels each day as my time is limited and the arrangement of my garage does cause it to be more time consuming. The first panel went up quite well, a little unstable cause panel was not quite on center. The second panel went without problems.
I noticed while putting the 3rd panel up it was up about 9' and I think the cable slipped anyway it just dropped about 3" and stopped, I thought it was coming down on me but it stopped. I tried to continue up, it seemed like it was jammed then I tried to lower it but could not budge the brake, finally I muscled it and got it raised it into position. Once the weight was off it lowered noramlly.
After I loaded the 4th panel, I noticed that the center post was making contact with the cement floor. The panels weigh (90lbs)and now when you load them and flip them horizontally the center main support/balance post makes contact with the floor, making it quite difficult to move the panel accross the room to get it to its position. I managed to get the 4th panel up without too much problem, I did have to kind of yank or jerk the load to get it to slide accross the cement floor.
My cement floor is smooth, it was professionally poured by professional contractors. Other than the dragging center/support post, the unit seems to function pretty good. My concern is, is that I have a lot more to do, will it hold up for me to complete the job. Fortunately it is my own garage without any major deadline but I do want to get it done ASAP.
