While I have not actually tested that, I find that hard to believe given that these are considerably smaller than heavy duty ones I see in the big box stores which have a stated capacity of 75 lbs. Sportsman Series HDPP4 4 Ton Power Puller Review

I really beat this thing up. I used it to pull a 10,000lb boat off a sandbar in a small amount of water. It looks like I threw it off a cliff, but it has it where it counts. The sides are made of cheap sheet metal and they bent and made it more difficult to use, but it still works. I didn't like the quick release, it didn't work that well but I didn't need it anyways. I was very satisfied as with some minor repairs it lasted through some horrifying abuse.

This has to be the best electric winch ever. It is very light weight and compact yet very powerful with a fast line speed. So small I was able to fit it completely inside of my front bumper on a Toyota Tacoma. And I have used it many many times and been very impressed with it.

The synthetic lead takes some getting used to... handles differently then cable. It is definitely not as durable. The line must be meticulously rewound or under load it squishes together and it very difficult to unwind again. But it is much safer (so I hear) and I enjoy the weight savings. Perfect for a Jeep or import truck.
