These straps are truly heavy duty with ribs on top and sturdy galvanized hooks. I have only taken a few out of service for cracking over the many years I have used them- they always get lost before they start to break. The only thing I would recommend is crimping the strap end of the hooks (with heavy channel-lock pliers) so the straps don't work their way around the corner and fall off. They will make black marks on some light objects. Don't settle for less.
