NOBODY will install this unit, and we have an educated hunch that it is because they tend to not work.

Frigidaire requires that final installation be performed by a Frigidaire approved local service company. Otherwise the warranty could be void. After hours of phone calls, and using all leads provided by Frigidaire, and all referrals from those service companies we had called, we have found NONE willing to install it or provide any other sort of service. WE heard one RUMOR that the compressors tend to leak. Most say "Oh we won't touch those, sorry". We are in a major market (Los Angeles).

I wish I had either gone with the cheaper no-name brand on Amazon and had my plumber install it (it has good ratings for DIY), or paid a little more and gotten the Mitsubishi which is known for quality.

Frigidaire customer service is not non-existent, I will continue to try to work with them. But it is a very laborious effort and they are ill-equipped to provide any useful information whatsoever on this product.

Big mistake.

Update: found an installer who was reasonable. up and running well. It had arrived w/o freon it seems, not that big a problem. But do not count on any real help from fridgidaire.
