Product Description
The neodymium 35 rare earth disc magnet provides very high perpendicular pull on a flat magnetic surface, and has nickel plating for maximum energy output. The combination of powdered neodymium, iron, and boron provides very high resistance to demagnetizing and good temperature stability in dry environments with temperatures below 176 degrees F. The magnet provides a maximum of 1.2 lb. of pull strength to perpendicular surface (pounds of pull strength does not apply to shear force). The magnet can be abrasively ground with liberal amounts of coolant to minimize heat fracturing and reduce the risk of fire caused by oxidized grinding dust. The tolerance is + or - .005 inches for the thickness (direction of magnetization) and + or - .010" (or + or - 2.5%, whichever is greater) for length and width.
Neodymium rare earth magnets are the most powerful commercial magnets and are available in a range of grades, sizes, and shapes. Neodymium iron boron alloy is typically milled to a fine powder, pressed in the presence of a magnetic field to provide the single magnetic direction, and then sintered, machined, and magnetized. Magnetism deteriorates when temperatures exceed 176 degrees F/80 degrees C, although some grades retain magnetism at higher temperatures. Most grades of rare earth magnets are painted, coated, or plated to protect against oxidation and corrosion.
Neodymium Rare Earth Magnet Rings, 3/8" Outer Diameter, 1/8 " Inner Diameter, 1/16" Thick (Pack of 12) Review
I have a bunch of older cabinet latches that don't hold as tight as they used to. Their magnet catches are old, less attractive or out of alignment. I slip one of these little dynamo's over the existing latch and Viola! I have a tight holding latch again. Most of the consumer Reviews tell that the "Neodymium Rare Earth Magnet Rings, 3/8" Outer Diameter, 1/8 " Inner Diameter, 1/16" Thick (Pack of 12)" are high quality item.
