I don't know anything about wire, my son bought this for a science project (making a pick-up for an electric guitar from popsicle sticks, magnets, and wire). He liked it and said it didn't tangle bad. He said he would have gotten thicker wire if he had known how hard fine wire is for a beginner to work with (this stuff is finer than a human hair) but I hear the finer the wire, the better the sound. So it is probably better for someone with more experience who really know what they are doing!
