Product Description
Magnet wire is copper wire with a thin layer of insulation, and is used in a variety of applications including transformers, wound coils, motors, solenoids, and instruments. Raw copper is drawn to meet specific size requirements based on the National Electrical Manufacturer's Association (NEMA) standards. This magnet wire meets the NEMA MW-79-C standard for operating temperature (155°C/311°F) and insulation makeup. The insulation is made from modified Polyurethane, and protects the coiled wire from short-circuiting.Magnet Wire, Enameled Copper Wire, 42 AWG, 1.0 Lbs, 51313' Length, 0.0026" Diameter, Red Review
I don't know anything about wire, my son bought this for a science project (making a pick-up for an electric guitar from popsicle sticks, magnets, and wire). He liked it and said it didn't tangle bad. He said he would have gotten thicker wire if he had known how hard fine wire is for a beginner to work with (this stuff is finer than a human hair) but I hear the finer the wire, the better the sound. So it is probably better for someone with more experience who really know what they are doing! Most of the consumer Reviews tell that the "Magnet Wire, Enameled Copper Wire, 42 AWG, 1.0 Lbs, 51313' Length, 0.0026" Diameter, Red" are high quality item.
