Though the drain is nice, the anode is 1/3 the length (and a smaller diameter) of the the one by suburban and I had a hard time locating the replacement anode with a drain at a good price ($15 on amazon). Seems you have to buy the brass drain fitting on each new rod. The suburban anode Rod now comes with a black hard plastic nut so you dont have to worry about corrosion or rust making it difficult to remove. The current part number is #232767 from suburban manufacturing co. The last rod I had in place has lasted 6 years as the rod doesnt need to be replaceed until significant erotion. I project that you will buy 5-6 of the small rods to 1 big rod for the convience of having a spicket (that clogs with debrie). So the OEM - now with plastic nut - will save you $100 over 5 years.

IF you drain and flush your water heater each year as recommended, you will be able to gauge how long the anode will last. The spicket doesnt mean you dont have to remove the anode for flusing, it just allows you to drain it b4 removing.
