Rare earth magnets are the strongest type of permanent magnet currently made. They are amazingly powerful for their size and have innumerable uses. These magnets are 1/2 inch (0.5) x 2 inch disc. They are composed of grade 42 neodymium iron boron magnetic material and are plated in nickel-copper-nickel for a shiny corrosion resistant finish. Their individual pull force is approximately 87 lbs.

Not as strong as I expected, I expected the field to propagate out more than it does. The strong repulsive force is only a teardrop shape about 7/8 inch diameter (starting at center) and only about a 3/8 inch off of the flat end. The repulsive field can be felt at 3-4 inches from the end but is only very strong really near the end of the magnet. I can pull these magnets apart with surprisingly little effort. I wish I had a Gauss meter to test them with.
