This magnet has been finished very well. All of the edges have a tiny bevel which will help prevent chipping. Strong is not the word. This thing will hurt you. Twice it grabbed my pocket knife out of my hand. Once; the blade came open and I could have been cut. I wrapped my magnet with cable spicing tape to help keep me from having accidents.
