About Neodymium Magnets: Neodymium magnets are one of rare earth permanent magnets. Neodymium magnets are also known as NdFeB magnets, or neo rare earth magnets. Since it's very strong, people also simply call it super strong magnets or super powerful magnets. The major elements of this magnet include neodymium (Nd), iron (Fe) and boron (B), or NdFeB. About magnet4sale.com: magnet4sale.com is the online store of the CMS Magnetics Inc., which has been supplying permanent magnets to North American industries since 1999. CMS Magnetics carries all types and sizes of permanent magnets, including: neodymium magnets, ceramic magnets, SmCo magnets, AlniCo magnets, and flexible magnets. CMS also carries magnetic assemblies and tools like: magnetic cup holders, industrial magnetic lifters, magnetic sweepers, magnetic brooms, magnetic hooks, fuel magnets, water magnets, badge magnets, etc.
CMS Magnetics® N50 Disc Neodymium Magnet Dia 1/2x1/2"NdFeB Rare Earth Disc Magnet Lot 4 Review
These magnets are quite fun, and are well priced. They're powerful enough that without tools, it can be practically impossible to rejoin two of these magnets together in a controlled fashion with the factory separator between them. The separator just flies out from the pressure before you can get them flat. The strength borders on dangerous, so they can be a hazard to your fingers if not careful - definitely not a "My First Neodymium Magnet." They're great for experiments and hanging stuff off of.
I've had the magnets a number of weeks now, and one of the first things I did was to cut out some pad-like tape to protect one of the magnets, and did some other things with the other magnets. Although I wouldn't recommend it, the former does stick really well to the magnet while soon losing most of its stickiness on the outside, all the while providing a rather nice cushioning. I'd recommend the latter, but it's not exactly easy to deal with, and nothing's quite as fun as a bare magnet. I've been relatively careful to not let the magnets slam against each other, and they're still all in one piece.
The only negative thing I can figure to say about these magnets are that they N50 instead of N52 strength (but they are cheaper than weaker grades I've seen sold online), and that one of the magnets seems to have a small manufacturing defect near a corner that appears as a dent. The plating over it looks fine, so I don't think it will be an issue.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to drop these magnets down some copper tubes and watch them leisurely float down the other side.
